4 Signs You're Having a Stroke

Just remember the following:

F IS FOR FACE

If you're experiencing spasms, weird tics or anything similar, look in a mirror. Is one side droopier than the other? Is your face off-kilter?

A IS FOR ARM

If you lift your arm into the air, does it fall back down? Do you feel weak, tingly or numb on only one side of the body?

S IS FOR SPEECH

Are you having trouble getting words out? Is your speech slurred?

T IS FOR TIME

As soon as you think something is going on, call 911. In addition to the FAST symptoms, a stroke can cause blurry or double vision, persistent dizziness or vertigo and a terrible headache. And there's one other symptom that women experience more than men, according to Dr. Greene-Chandos: severe, unrelenting hiccups, not like the kind you get when you drink a soda too fast . "You'll probably have other symptoms, too, but the hiccups are so strong and uncontrollable that they may be what sends you to the doctor," she says.
