Top Attractions in BulgariaLet's visit Bulgaria. One of the most interesting of the historic nations of Eastern Europe, Bulgaria. There are many attractions in Bulgaria, and it is very difficult to recommend what you should see, as there is simply so much to see in a country with archaeological, cultural and natural sights.The country is also a wonderful store of natural wealth. Country with a population of approximately eight million people in southeastern Europe is filled with mountains, lowlands near the river Danube, rich farmland, and sandy beaches along the Black Sea Coast. There is plenty of room to enjoy your time and explore all the hidden treasures in this country.


Caves

Caves can be found throughout the country and are interesting places to visit, some of the popular ones include, Bacho Kiro cave, Dyavolskoto Garlo (The Devil's Throat) Cave, Ledenika Cave, Magura Cave and Yagodina Cave. Bacho Kiro Cave is located approximately 6 km southwest of Dryanovo and is an intricate 3600m maze of cave rooms and passages. The Devil's Throat Cave is believed to be around 300 000 years old. The cave is 1km long and you can see the largest cascade of waterfalls in the Balkan region with a total height of 60m.
The longest cave on the Balkan Peninsula is Yagodina Cave and is 10 km long. This is a five stories high cave, which has many abysses and labyrinths inside. Several of the formations in the cave look like Santa Claus, Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs. Magura Cave is very striking because of its paintings and is about 7000 years old. The art work shows displays of hunting, dance and love scenes.


Mountains

If you love the Mountains then Bulgaria has them. For climbers and winter sport enthusiasts the most famous in the country are Rila Mountain, Pirin Mountain, Rhodopes Mountain, Vitosha Mountain and the Stara Planina. Musala (2925 m) is the highest peak in the Rila mountain range in Bulgaria, and here you will also find the stunning famous Seven Rila Lakes. The lakes are individually named due to their characteristics, such as Salzata or The Tear is the highest lake and named because of its clear crystal water. The second highest is the Okoto or The Eye and is oval shaped.
You will also find amazing gorges in Bulgaria the most well known is the Trigod Gorge situated in the southern part of the country close to the Rhodope Mountains. It is surrounded by stunning vertical marble rocks that tumble down to the Trigrad River and into the Dyavolskoto Garlo (Devil's Throat) Cave. Nature enthusiasts will also enjoy discovering The Erma River Gorge. It is close to the western border of Bulgaria, and near to the town of Tran. A bridge over the river allows you to take in the spectacular surroundings of this beautiful gorge.


Towns to See

The city of Plovdiv is an amazing city and has a wealth of historical features to see with its site known as "The Old Plovdiv". There are remains, preserved from various ages and an Ancient amphitheatre and Roman Stadium. The Ethnographic Museum in Plovdiv was inaugurated in 1917. There are over 40 000 relics, exhibited in the museum that are related to agriculture, crafts, textile, furniture, art and musical instruments dating between the 18th and 19th centuries.

Bulgaria is amazing country located in the heart of The Balkan Peninsula. Despite its small territory, this country has collect some amazing natural and historical sites.
